Art and Architecture
Entrance Hall Raiffeisenbank, Cham CH

Entwined with memory, light is the elixir of exist-
ence; a symbol of life and evolution representing
not  only change but also continuous progress in
our society. These topics inspired Daniela Schön-
bächler  to incorporate light as the main driving
force for the art and architecture installation Lux
sited on the 6 metre high wall at the Entrance Hall
of the  Raiffeisenbank Cham. In alliance with art,
the artist employs scientific rules; light rays are
a form of electromagnetic radiation, always pro-
pagating in a straight line, changing their direction
only when they hit a body such as diachroic glass
in the case of the artwork Lux. Thereby creating
reflections, refractions and radiations, which can
be perceived as light paintings constantly chang-
ing due to both the artificially programmed, and
natural light, irradiation. Thus, Lux is never static,
in a constant state of flux always a new experience
for the bank visitor which is passing through the Hall.
